The real-world research

You will be embedded with Thomson Reuters’ data science team in their office in Exeter, UK. While there you will:

  • Learn how to use Eikon software (Thomson Reuters’ flagship product and competitor to Bloomberg)
  • Learn how to use Nasdaq’s world-leading SMARTS surveillance software, which was originally developed by CMCRC-SIRCA
  • Perform surveillance on FX benchmarks for over 100 currencies, meeting regulatory requirements
  • Continually upgrade the surveillance system with new alerts, new data feeds and more
  • Be part of a small team with a strong emphasis on work-life balance.

The location

Luke Aitken was previously embedded with Thomson Reuters. He says their Exeter location is “an idyllic city close to the coast, with a vibrant university lifestyle. Only two hours by train from London, it gives easy access to the UK’s best beaches, nature attractions and tourist hot spots.”
