Abstract: What does the Internet of Things mean to you? Wearables? Connected washing machines? Video cameras and remote control of your home?
These are the popular views of IoT, but IoT is much more than communicating ‘things’. There’s a whole ecosystem of interconnected and interdependent technologies. And beyond these there’s the question of what you do with all the data you get from the ‘things’. The application of data analytics to that data opens up many possibilities. This presentation will give an overview of the IoT ecosystem, identify some of the key components, and explore the potential of IoT beyond simply monitoring and control.
