SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED TO CMCRC PHD STUDENT

Congratulations to Victoria McCreanor who has been offered a summer scholarship to work with the Deeble Institute in Canberra, for 6 weeks starting in January 2017.

The Canberra-based scholarship requires talented students to produce an Issues Brief on an important national health services or health policy topic. “The purpose of the Summer Research Scholarship program is to provide post-graduate students with an opportunity to work in a knowledge exchange organisation so that they gain a better understanding of how to make academic research relevant to policymakers and practitioners,” says the Deeble Institute for Health Policy Research website.

“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to work with the Deeble Institute”, says Ms Mc Creanor,” I will be undertaking research about the current barriers to disinvestment in low value care in Australia. Connections to policy-makers via the Deeble Institute will be invaluable in helping me identify the real issues faced by those wanting to make changes to policy to improve the performance of the Australian healthcare system.”
