
Professor
Stephen Taylor is Associate Dean – Research and Development and Professor of Financial Accounting at UTS Business School. Prior to joining UTS in 2008, Stephen was a Professor of Accounting at the University of New South Wales (2003-08), where he also served as Acting Associate Dean (Research) in 2005 and 2006. He has previously been a Professor at the University of Sydney, where he served as Director of the Accounting Foundation. In 1999-2000, he was a Visiting Professor of Accounting at the Ross Business School at the University of Michigan, following an earlier appointment there in 1993-94. Stephen received his PhD from the Australian Graduate School of Management (UNSW) in 1991, and is a Chartered Accountant (CA) and a Fellow of CPA Australia (FCPA).
Stephen is currently Chair of BARDSNet, the representative group of Associate Deans-Research in Australian and New Zealand business schools. He has held this position since January 2012, a role which also requires advising the Australian Business Dean’s Council on research policy and strategy matters as they affect the business school community. Stephen is a director of SIRCA Ltd, as well as being chair of the Audit and Risk Management Committee of that board as well as for SIRCA Technology. He also serves as a director of the Capital Markets CRC, where he also chairs the Audit Committee. Stephen represents UTS on the Advisory Council of the Centre for International Finance and Regulation (CIFR). Stephen is also an academic advisor to Plato Funds Management.
