New Research on Accuracy of Collective Conclusions on Prostate Cancer Notes

Senior Health Data Scientist Dr Ehsan Borzeshi has been published in the Asia-Pacific Journal of Clinical Oncology  alongside other researchers based in Victoria.
Data from the Prostate Cancer Outcome Registry – Victoria (PCOR-Vic) was taken to measure characteristics of prostate cancer patients who did not have documented medical records for clinical T stage category (cT) and to assess whether the four specialists had come to collective conclusions regarding cT based on digital rectal examination (DRE) notes.

From 10 587 men, cT was documented in 8758 (82.7%) cases. The multivariate analysis determined that poor cT documentation was associated within older patient age diagnosis and was more likely documented in men diagnosed via transurethral resection of prostate

“Mode of diagnosis/subsequent treatment and cancer characteristics were associated with cT, clinical T stage category, documentation for patients with prostate cancer. This study shows if we miss this documentation, the third party interpretation of digital rectal examination (DRE) notes is problematic.” Says Dr Ehsan Borzeshi.

Dr Ehsan Borzeshi has also had another paper accepted for the 56th Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics conference in Melbourne July 15th to 20th, 2018.
